Maids Carer Job Description

A Maids Carer is a worker employed in providing care and/or support directly to someone who uses a service within a care at home service.

Summary Of Work and Responsibilities In This Position

  • Delivering excellent customer service in the ongoing provision of care to clients by having a positive, “can-do” attitude and a commitment to our clients’ best interests.
  • Offering friendly companionship and personal support
  • Assisting clients with walking, mobility and light exercise
  • Planning & preparing meals followed by clean-up.
  • Make beds and do laundry
  • Housekeeping to include dusting and vacuuming
  • Run errands (shopping etc)
  • Provide assistance with bathing and personal care.
  • Write updates in the communication book in each client’s home after each visit and update our internal Care Planner App after each visit
  • Monitor and pay attention to the overall welfare of our clients and report any client changes or concerns to the office.
  • Form positive relations with family members and friends who also have an input into the daily life of your clients.
  • Provide medication assistance

Prior to the start of working with any new client/assignment Maids Care will provide you with detailed background information and review any special requirements.  The Care and Support Plan will specify exactly what you do for the individual client.


Currently Care Workers do not need any formal qualifications however, we will be supporting all care workers to work towards a professional training program for staff looking to pursue professional training qualifications.

Knowledge/Experience Skills And Abilities

It is essential the post holder has:

  • Experience in caring and supporting people whether that be children, adults or family members and friends.
  • Must be able to work well under pressure and be a natural problem solver.
  • Ability to speak English clearly, both in person and on the phone
  • Ability to treat clients with dignity and respect
  • Ability to adapt to clients and new situations
  • Must be a people person and enjoy interacting and dealing with people
  • Must have excellent customer service when face to face with a client.
  • Must have initiative and be able to work on their own
  • Must be able to work well under pressure and be a natural problem solver.
  • Able to work in and around the local area.
  • Be able to work flexible hours as there will be requirement to visit clients at various times throughout the day. .
  • Consistent weekly availability between 10 and 35 hours each week
  • You should have a current driving license and a reliable vehicle

Desirable Requirements

It is desirable the post holder has:

  • Excellent local knowledge of the surrounding area.
